- Grade 3 Teaching date : Saturday, May 4th 2024 UNIT 20: AT THE ZOO Lesson 2- Activity 1, 2, 3 I. OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: - understand and correctly repeat the sentences in two communicative contexts focusing on asking and answering about what a zoo animal is doing. - use What is the ______ doing? – It's ______. to ask and answer questions about what a zoo animal is doing. 1. Knowledge/ Language focus: - Vocabulary: elephant, climbing, swinging, counting - Sentence patterns: What is the ______ doing? – It's ______. 2. Skills:speaking. 3. Quality /Attitude: Actively participate in activities with their classmates in pairs, groups or class. Educate Ss about asking and answering about what a zoo animal is doing. Kindness: help partners to complete learning tasks Diligence: complete learning tasks Responsibility: appreciate kindness 4. Competences: SS can develop some competences: Communication, planning and organization, stress tolerance, initiative Oral Critical thinking: asking and answering about what a zoo animal is doing. Listening: Look, listen and repeat Oral Communication: Let’s talk about asking and answering about what a zoo animal is doing. Sociability: asking and answering about what a zoo animal is doing, say good words to others. II. TEACHING AIDS / MATERIALS: - Pictures, textbook, computer, projector, flashcards, recording III. Knowledge/ Language focus: - Vocabulary: review - Sentence patterns: review 2. Skills: - Listening, writing and reading 3. Quality /Attitude: Actively participate in activities with their classmates in pairs, groups or class. Educate Ss know what someone is doing at a camp Diligence: complete learning tasks Responsibility: appreciate kindness Leadership: collaborate with teachers to enhance language skills 4. Competences: SS can develop some competences: - Communication and collaboration: work in pairs and groups to complete the learning tasks - Self-control & independent learning: perform listening tasks II. TEACHING AIDS / MATERIALS: - Pictures, textbook, computer, projector, flashcards, flashcards, recording III. - *Aims: to complete the gapped sentences and read them aloud with the help of the picture cues. *Context: Four picture cues and four incomplete sentences *Teaching techniques - techniques in teaching reading -individual, pairworks, pictures *Procedure: -Look at the picture and identify. - Get Ss to look at the pictures. Get them to identify the characters. - Have Ss look at the four incomplete sentences and guess the missing word. Then draw Ss’ attention to the picture and elicit the activities that can be used to fill in the gap (a story) -Ss look ans listen. - Model with a sentence. -SS do the task. - Have Ss complete the sentences individually. - *Context: Pieces of paper with secret sentences written on them. *Teaching techniques - techniques in teaching playing game - individual, groupworks, using recording, pictures -Ss look and listen. *Procedure: -Tell Ss that they are going to play Whispering game in groups of four or five. Write sentences from the unit on small pieces of paper, e.g. He's building a campfire; She's telling a story; She's putting up a tent; He's taking a photo. - Give a piece of paper with a secret sentence to the first player of two groups. - The first player of each group reads the -Ss listen and play game secret sentence in silence and whispers it to the next player. Then the second player whispers the sentence to the next player in his / her group until the last player gets the sentence. -SS perform in front of the class. - The group that first correctly reads the sentence is the winner. Have Ss work in groups.
